The Center for Dental Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Dental Medicine

The Department of Biomedical Informatics at Pitt, is now recruiting for the 2009 postgraduate program in dental informatics (one NLM-funded position and several other self-funded positions). This program offers a broad range of research and training experience and thus is a perfect opportunity for people who want to go into teaching and research in dentistry. Please help spread the word about this opportunity.

The program prepares you for a research career in dental informatics. As part of a group of over 30 trainees in medical and dental informatics, you will participate in a multi-faceted and stimulating curriculum that leads to a master's degree in biomedical informatics within two years. A PhD option is available.

Dental informatics is an exciting new field that combines dentistry and computers. Dental informatics specialists research and apply cutting-edge computer applications, such as decision support systems, computer-based oral health records, image processing and analysis programs, and teledentistry systems, to solve real-world problems in dentistry.

Financial support from NIDCR/NLM is available to eligible individuals. NIH funds provide for a stipend, tuition, fee and health insurance support, travel subsidies, and a state-of-the-art computer. The program also offers a limited number of positions for self-funded trainees. Applications are due by the spring of each year. The program begins in August of each year. Please see our Web site for further information, di.dental.pitt.edu.
